What is an Dental Implant?

The dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is inserted into the jaw instead to secure a tooth or bridge. Dental implants can be an option for people who have lost their teeth due to periodontitis, injury or other reasons. Plates, screws and nails made of titanium material are called implants. The placement of these teeth is called implantation and is approximately the size of the root (8 – 16 mm) and 3.5 – 4 mm in diameter. These implants take over the task of missing teeth

The second reason would be to bring back in line, unaligned teeth when making your smile makeover to cover the sensitivity.

The answer, Yes!
regardless of if your teeth are already filed down or not, it still takes the same amount of time for us to remove your existing veneer or crowns and for your new set to be made in our laboratories.
Please also note that if your first set of veneers / crowns were not made at Dental Clinic Dr. Ozan Güner then after removing them and assessing your filed down teeth, we may need to go over or reshape them.

Will my veneers stain over time?

Veneers do not stain easily, however over time food and drinks, such as red wine, coffee, curries, berries etc will diminish their shine. Certain lifestyle choices such as smoking and poor oral hygiene will also show their wear on your Veneers over time.
We suggest, clinical whitening treatment brightening them back up yearly or alternatively you can purchase one of our home whitening kits from our clinics, to keep on top of this yourself.

Will I be able to eat normally during treatment?

While having your smile makeover made, you will be put on what many of our previous clients labelled as the “Dr. Ozan Guner soft food Diet.”
This is due to your teeth possibly being sensitive during the process and your temporary teeth cannot hold much pressure.
Foods we recommended are as follows;

  • Pasta
  • Rice/noddle’s
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Mash potato
  • Yoghurt/Smoothies

You can drink as normal.

We recommend you have clinical whitening no more than once, every 6 months to one year, when you start to notice the gleam from your last treatment dulling down.
The longevity of you whitening treatment will depend on your dental hygiene, lifestyle, if you smoke and frequent consummation of certain foods & drinks that could stain your teeth, such as red wine and coffee.

If you have clinical whitening treatment more than once every 6 months, then this may cause sensitivity, gum receding and enamel loss.

We only recommended having whitening treatments and purchasing home whitening kits through a registered dental clinic.
Many home whitening kits that can be purchased over the internet, do not contain the correct strength and amount of whitening gel to be as effective as a dental clinical treatment. The mouth guard included in these online kits will not be tailor made to fit your mouth like a dentist can provide; resulting in possible gel leaking from the mouth guard to your mouth & gums, causing possible sensitivity and blisters.

After having my teeth extracted, how long is it until I can come for a bridge or implants to fill the gap where the missing tooth/teeth were?

Every person’s healing rates are different and individual to them depending on their health and lifestyle, or if on any medication.
In general, if choosing bridge work to fill the gap then we advise an 8-week healing period after extraction. If your choosing implant treatment to fill the gap, then we advise a 6 month healing period after extraction. However, if your dentist has applied bone grafting into your jawbone where the tooth was extracted, this would reduce the healing period time to 8 weeks.
